Camping or SHTF ~ Wood Burning Portable Stove

I noticed, one of the many benefits of going camping on a regular basis is that you also build up things for a SHTF scenario. In case you don't know what that means, SHTF means Shit Hits The Fan. That could mean anything from a major hurricane causing widespread outages, or something as serious as financial collapse causing nation wide panic and rioting. No matter the situation, there are certain things that are either key to survival, just fun to get, or key to comfort. My latest buy falls into all three for me plus having another good camping stove is always a plus.

What Makes This Wood Burning Camping Stove Good? 

• It is made of stainless steel which is strong enough to hold a nice big pot of camping stew, plus it can handle high temps.
• The Stainless steel is super light, which makes it perfect for camping or backpacking.

For just over $20 for a portable camping stove, for me it was a must have. I tried it out with the kids out back just to get an idea how hard it would be to keep going. Sure enough it was simple. I had my children gather about 10 small foot long sticks. We then broke those sticks down to about 3-4 inch pieces. I added a ball of dryer lint around the longest stick, lit it on fire, put the fire end in the stove first, and added more sticks until the stove was full. Once the fire was on top we added a small pot of water. I let the kids keep adding small sticks, and within just a few minutes we had boiling water. As my 5 year old said, easy peasy lemon squeezy!
